    Joinery and Carpentry Courses (SCQF)

    This is aimed at individuals that are above the age of sixteen and want to be employed or are employed in the industry of construction specializing in wood. There are various trades available to choose from including joinery, wood machining, shopfitting and bench joinery.

    The qualifications are aimed at the learners wishing to get skills in joinery and carpentry and continue to be skilled in their chosen field or through apprenticeship or becoming master craftsmen.

    There are various sample tests to allow the learners and tutors to feel the look of e-volve before sitting for the test and be able to experience the style and type of questions which will be tested.

    The units covered in sample tests are:

    Level four building construction, communication and information principles

    Level five welfare, safety and health in construction

    Level Five

    Level six planning, pricing and organizing for construction work

    SCQF Four

    This level is where the leaner is introduced to joinery and carpentry skills. This allows a candidate to learn, practice and develop skills that are needed for career progression or employment in joinery and carpentry. It covers these skills: making basic joints of woodworking and using various power and hand tools.

    SCQF Five

    This is where the learner starts to specialize in bench joinery, shopfitting joinery or carpentry.

    The diploma in level five carpentry makes the learner to practice, develop and learn the skills that are required for career progression and employment in carpentry.

    Doing first fix roofing and flooring

    Doing first fix stairs, partitions and frames

    Doing second fixing tasks

    Doing carpentry maintenance

    Operating and setting up a circular saw

    The bench joinery diploma level five makes a learner to develop, practice and learn skills that are required for career progression and employment in carpentry.

    The following skills are covered:

    Operating and setting up a circular saw

    Production of details of setting out for the products of joint joinery

    Marking out the setting details for joinery products

    Manufacturing products of bench joinery

    The shopfitting joinery diploma level five makes a learner to develop, practice and learn skills that are required for career progression and employment in carpentry.

    The following skills are covered:

    Operating and setting up a circular saw

    Manufacturing shopfitting internal products

    Manufacturing shopfitting external products

    Machine manufacturing joinery principles

    Operating and setting fixed machines for sawing

    Operating and setting fixed machines for jointing

    Operating and setting fixed machines for sanding

    Operating and setting fixed machines for planning

    Operating and setting machines NC/CNC

    The extended diplomas are used as a component of apprenticeship for the learners that are beginners in construction trades and are of age 16. Colleges should use those handbooks of both level four and five that have the extended diploma units.

    SCQF Six

    This where the learner learn the advanced knowledge and skills in bench joinery, shopfitting joinery and site carpentry.

    The diploma in level six site carpentry makes the learner to practice, develop and learn the skills that are required for career progression and employment in carpentry.
