This is for those that want to start a career in building engineering and are not sure about the area to go into. The earner gets what he or she enjoys and then later specializes in plumbing, engineering, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation or electrotechnical and eventually gets a career.
The qualification is for the learners that have an interest in building services careers in plumbing, engineering, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation or electrotechnical.

Learning takes place with a trainer in groups. Assessment is done through multiple choice online tests and practical tasks.
Level One
The level is suitable for those that are beginners and want a basic understanding of the industry of building services.

After completing the qualification, one can work in:

THE INVOLVEMENTS OF THE COURSE DELIVERY
For one to qualify to deliver the course, he or she needs qualified staff for assessment and training.
There will be need for suitable resources and facilities for training and attainment of industry requirements by learners.

Level One
The level is suitable for those that are beginners and want a basic understanding of the industry of building services.

Environmental awareness

One can work as a:
Plumber
Engineer of air conditioning
Electrician
Ventilating and heating engineer
The units from the diploma or certificate can be used to start the level two NVQ diplomas:
Testing, maintaining and installing services of air conditioning
Maintaining and installing refrigeration systems
Ventilating and heating- commercial and industrial installation
Ventilating and heating- ductwork installation
Heating and plumbing
Domestic heating
One also may have an interest in moving to NVQ diplomas however the units from the diploma and certificate will not count:
Installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems level three
Servicing and installing systems of signal reception level two
Level Two
This level is appropriate for those that have an understanding of the industry of building services and need to continue in their career.
To get the qualification, one has to do a range of optional and mandatory units.
