    Gas Certificates Courses

    These certificates open the ways for gas technicians or those preparing for NVQ in gas installation and maintenance and Gas Emergency services Operations. Being combined with NVQ, the certificate means that one is eligible Gas Safe Registration and such support the apprenticeship of the domestic gas.

    The 3 Certificate is ideal if one is willing to advance his/her career as a gas emergency provider.

    Anyone willing to learn the underpinning knowledge required of a gas engineer can have these certificates. To take this qualification, one does not need any previous experience or a work placement.

    Anyone already employed in the gas emergency sector can go for level 3 certificate.

    INVOLVEMENT IN STUDYING THIS COURSE.

    The following will be covered:

    • Installation of gas appliances including cookers and central heating system.
    • Installation, maintenance and decommissioning of meters and pipes.
    • Health and safety.
    • How to deal with customers.
    • How to work with others.
    • Safety measures.
    • Installing, commissioning, decommissioning, servicing and maintaining a range of appliances, pipework and meters.

    For one to get a VRQ, one will learn with his/her training provider through practical sessions, assignments or group discussions.

    Training provider is the one who assesses VRQs through assignments, practical task, online tests or exams.

    One has to do a multiple-choice test in order to get the certificate in Natural gas Installation and Maintenance.

    Level 2.

    One is just beginning his/her career in gas service industry, and he/she is in need of learning the trade’s basic skills. One may be willing to gain the knowledge he/she need to take an NVQ in gas installation and maintenance.

    Level 3.

    One has been a worker in the domestic gas industry for some time. He/she has plenty of experience, and his/her work might involve either supervising others or managing the resources. He/she is willing to acquire more knowledge so that to move to other sub-sectors in the industry such as commercial, industrial or plumbing and heating.

    POTENTIAL CAREERS.

    By possessing level 2 certificate, one can easily get a job as a gas service technician.

    By possessing level 2 certificate, one can easily get a job as a gas service technician within the domestic sector.

    With further qualifications, one can attain the skills to work in gas industry’s other sub-sectors such as:

    • Commercial and industrial gas.’
    • Multi-sector such as water, heating and plumbing.
    • Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
    • Gas training and education.

    INVOLVEMENT IN DELIVERING THIS COURSE.

    Suitably qualified staff will be needed to carry out the training and assessment, as this is a way of ensuring that the learner has delivered these qualifications.

    This qualification is open for everyone. However, one must ensure that learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

    Level 3.

    This level has two available qualifications, namely:

    • Level 3 certificate in complex installation and maintenance of domestic natural gas.
    • Level 3 certificate in gas emergency service operations.

    Certificate in complex installation and maintenance of domestic natural gas comprises 6 core units at this level, and they include:

    • Improving business products and services in the gas industry.
    • Complex gas activities for water heating appliances and central heating.
    • Pipework’s complex gas activities.

    The gas emergency service operations has four units, and they include:

    • Contribute in controlling, rectification and monitoring the gas emergencies.
    • LPG change over for gas emergency service operations.
