Access to Building Services Courses
This is for those that want to start a career in building engineering and are not sure about the area to go into. This is a one year qualification which provides learners with a skills flavor in various building services including plumbing, engineering, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and electrotechnical.
The earner gets what he or she enjoys and then later specializes in plumbing, engineering, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation or electrotechnical and eventually gets a career.
The qualification is for the learners that have an interest in building services careers in plumbing, engineering, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation or electrotechnical. They might be adults or young full time learners.

The knowledge and basic skills covered in this course includes:
Plumbing
Engineering
Heating
Air conditioning
Refrigeration
Ventilation and electrotechnical
Learning takes place with a trainer in groups. Assessment is done through multiple choice online tests and practical tasks.
Level One
The level is suitable for those that are beginners and want a basic understanding of the industry of building services- adequate to select a career pathway to move into in the qualification that follows. It can be an adult or a young learner.
THE CAREERS THAT THIS LEADS TO
The qualification does not make a leaner to directly get a bub but prepares one to begin a specialist qualification in the selected area.
After completing the qualification, one can work in:
Plumbing
Engineering
Heating
Air conditioning
Refrigeration
Ventilation and electrotechnical
THE INVOLVEMENTS OF THE COURSE DELIVERY
For one to qualify to deliver the course, he or she needs qualified staff for assessment and training.
There will be need for suitable resources and facilities for training and attainment of industry requirements by learners.
This is open for anybody but there must be enough resources for all learners that are required to complete the course.

Level One

The units from the diploma or certificate can be used to start the level two NVQ diplomas:
Testing, maintaining and installing services of air conditioning
Maintaining and installing refrigeration systems
Ventilating and heating- commercial and industrial installation
Ventilating and heating- maintenance and service
Ventilating and heating- ductwork installation
Heating and plumbing
Domestic heating
One also may have an interest in moving to NVQ diplomas however the units from the diploma and certificate will not count:
Electrotechnical services level three
Installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems level three
Servicing and installing systems of signal reception level two
Level Two
This level is appropriate for those that have an understanding of the industry of building services and need to continue in their career. It may be an adult or a young learner.
To get the qualification, one has to do a range of optional and mandatory units.
