Concentrating on the knowledge and practical skills needed to maintain service and install air conditioning and refrigeration systems, a successful learner will be equipped with skills to progress or start a career in the industry of air conditioning and refrigeration.
This is suitable for learners that want to work or are working in the maintenance, air conditioning, installation and refrigeration and heat pump systems.
THE INVOLVEMENTS OF STUDYING THE COURSE
One is allowed to select the qualification that suits the area of specialization or skills like:
Commissioning and installing halocarbon heat pump and air conditioning systems
Understanding and constructing site preparation or fabrication of pipework
Maintaining, testing and installing refrigeration systems
Assessment is done through evidence portfolio, multiple choice online tests and assignments
Level Two
This is appropriate for those that are working and want to work in the maintenance, air conditioning, and heat pump and refrigeration systems and have got skills and knowledge from a role they have held before.
Level Three
This is for those that have experience in air conditioning, heat pump and refrigeration systems and have got great knowledge and technical skills. Those that can work without supervision and have got excellent records of fault correction, safety and ensure their work meets the standards required.
THE CAREERS THAT THIS LEADS TO
The qualification enables one to continue in the industry of air condition, heat pump and refrigeration systems as an engineer.
THE INVOLVEMENTS OF COURSE DELIVERY
For one to qualify to deliver the course, he or she needs qualified staff for assessment and training.
There will be need for suitable resources and facilities for training and attainment of industry requirements by learners.
This is open for anybody but there must be enough resources for all learners that are required to complete the course.

Level Two
This is appropriate for those that are working and want to work in the maintenance, air conditioning, and heat pump and refrigeration systems and have got skills and knowledge from a role they have held before.
Two qualifications are available at this level:
Maintaining and installing refrigeration systems NVQ diploma
Testing, maintaining and installing heat pump and air conditioning
The two qualifications have core units including:
Applying safe work practices in the working environment of building services
Understanding the application of scientific principles
Understanding and carrying out electrical work components and systems
Commissioning and installation of halocarbon refrigeration systems
THE CAREERS THAT THIS LEADS TO
The qualification enables one to continue in the industry of air condition, heat pump and refrigeration systems as an engineer.
Level Three
This is for those that have experience in air conditioning, heat pump and refrigeration systems and have got great knowledge and technical skills. Those that can work without supervision and have got excellent records of fault correction, safety and ensure their work meets the standards required.
Four qualifications are available at this level:
Maintaining and servicing heat pump and air conditioning systems NVQ certificate
Commissioning and installing heat pump and air conditioning NVQ certificate
Maintaining and servicing refrigeration systems NVQ certificate
Commissioning and installing refrigeration systems NVQ certificate
All the qualifications have four core units including:
Understanding halocarbon system of refrigeration maintenance and service techniques
Carrying out and understanding RAC components and electrical work systems
Understanding the organization of resources within the BSE
