It forms a section of the knowledge elements of the apprenticeship of intermediate construction level two framework that enables learners to continue to the diploma or certificate in building and insulation treatments in the sector of construction.

Level two
This is for those that are working in maintenance of buildings and specialize in building and insulation treatments and have got knowledge and skills from a role which they were supervised before.

The qualification leads to various careers as installer of insulation.
THE INVOLVEMENTS OF COURSE DELIVERY
For one to qualify to offer the qualification, qualified staff is needed to do the assessment and the training.
Suitable facilities are also needed to do the needed training that will enable leaners to achieve the standards of the industry.
The centers which are already offering The NVQ certificate in building and insulation treatment can get fast approval for the new certificate and diploma.
There is no entry requirements needed but the current job should entail building and insulation treatment.

Level Two
This is for those that are working in maintenance of buildings and specialize in building and insulation treatments and have got knowledge and skills from a role which they were supervised before.
There are two courses at this level:
The NVQ certificate level two in building and insulation treatments
The NVQ diploma level two in building and insulation treatments
There are eight certificates which are available:
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- Cavity insulation of walls (Construction)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- Insulation of external walls (Construction)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- Loft insulation (Construction)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- Internal insulation (Construction)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- Draught proofing (Construction)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- Insulation of buildings framed section (Construction)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- insulation of external walls (Finisher)
The NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- insulation of external walls (Boarder)
The two certificates of NVQ are a replacement for the NVQ building and insulation treatments certificate- insulation of external walls (Construction)
The certificates have three core units:
Conforming to safety, welfare and health in the workplace
Conforming to working practices that are productive in the workplace
Handling, storing and moving resources in the workplace
Depending on the qualification that a learner chooses, there are additional units to be completed that should be selected from below:
Installation of insulation of external walls in the workplace
Installation of opening draught proofing in the workplace
Installation of insulation on internal walls, ceilings and floors in the workplace
There are two diplomas which can be taken at this level:
The NVQ certificate in building and insulation treatments (Construction)
The NVQ diploma in building and insulation treatments- insulation of external walls
The diploma has five core units:
Conforming to safety, welfare and health in the workplace
Conforming to working practices that are productive in the workplace
Handling, storing and moving resources in the workplace
Preparation of structures for workplace treatment
Reinstating of the structures after workplace treatment
