Beauty therapy, spa therapy, and nail service qualifications are appropriate for those who have an interest or working in this industry already.

There are several options for learners that have a little experience and other qualifications for the members of the senior staff.

Involvements of studying the course

To have a diploma or a certificate in nail service, spa therapy or beauty therapy, one needs to reveal certain skills set. The learner works with the provider of training to review his or her skills and get the best method of getting new ones. This can include studying or trying new options or things.

The learner learns from a training center or from work in a real working environment.  By the time the qualification ends, the learner will be able to demonstrate the skills gained on clients that pay.

The learner will be assessed as he or she learns.  Every supervisor watches an individual unit and asks questions throughout the task performance and reviews the portfolio developed by the learner as an evidence of continuous learning. Afterwards, the supervisor can assert that the leaner has got the required skill to perform a job well.

Level one

Those that want to be assistants of beauty therapists

Level two

Those that want to be nail technicians or beauty therapists

Level three

Those that want to be senior nail technicians, massage and spa therapists and therapists.

CAREERS WHERE THIS LEADS TO

The qualifications make learner prepared to work in saloons and become a member of the senior staff.

INVOLVEMENTS OF COURSE DELIVERY

The learner will deliver the qualifications as per the SSB Hobia set standards.

The qualifications will be assessed with practical observations, online e-assessment or short-answer questions at the center of the workplace of the learner.

It must be ensured that every learner can have access to a real environment of the workplace and every equipment required for achievement of standards of the occupation.

Level 1

The Beauty Therapy Certificate in Level one suits those that are just new in the industry.  These may include those in school or trainees as assistants in therapist saloons.

Eleven credits should be completed from the basic units

• Maintenance and preparation of treatment saloon areas
• Contribution to the effective relationships of working development
• Ensuring actions responsibility to reduce safety and health risks

Eight credits should be chooses from the optional units below

• Assisting with the reception tasks of a saloon
• Assisting with skin facial treatments
• Assisting with services of the nails
• Assisting with make-up

THE CAREERS THAT THIS LEADS TO

The qualifications make a learner prepared to work with a saloon or move to be a member of the senior staff.

Level Two

This is appropriate for those that want to be nail technicians or beauty therapists

This level involves choosing one of the following diplomas:

• NVQ Level Two Beauty Therapy Diploma (General route)
• NVQ Level Two Beauty Therapy Diploma (Make-up route)
• NVQ Level Two Nail Services Diploma

For the general and make-up therapy routes, one can finish basic units set amount and other optional units from the following:

• Promotional of services and products to customers
• Fulfillment of reception tasks of the salon
• Provision of make-up services

The Diploma in Nail Services has the following basic units set amount:

• Provision of pedicure services
• Provision of manicure services

CAREERS THAT THIS LEADS TO

The qualifications make a learner prepared to be employed in a saloon as a:

• Nail technician
• Junior therapist of beauty

Level Three

Level three is appropriate for those that have already worked in a spa or saloon or any similar job or have acquired level two. These include those that want to be members of the senior staff and want to have special skills concentrating on spa and salon services.

One chooses one of the following diplomas:

• NVO Beauty Therapy Level Three Diploma (General route)
• NVO Beauty Therapy Level Three Diploma (Massage route)
• NVO Beauty Therapy Level Three Diploma (Make-up route)
• NVO Spa Therapy Level Three Diploma
• NVO Nail Services Level Three Diploma

The core units include:

• Providing electrical facial treatments
• Creating and designing photographic and fashion make-up
• Providing massage treatments
• Contributing to the financial business effectiveness
• Maintaining and enhancing nails with powder or liquid
