The qualification can assist a learner proceed for further study or acquire the first job in the sector of hospitality. You are going to learn about various industry aspects and gain teamwork and practical skills.  The qualification will cover routes including food service and cookery and other areas in the industry.

The qualification is especially appropriate for the learners that have special needs. It allows one to study for two years from level three of SCQF to level four of SCQF. It also offers alternatives for level four SCQF for the trainees that need more support and are not ready to suit the qualifications of professional cookery.

The qualification can be taken by anybody who has an interest in joining the hospitality industry. This is aimed at individual between 14 and 19 years that are working to obtain level five SCQF qualifications and be skilled in employment. This qualification can also benefit the learners that are struggling on the level one professional cookery diploma.

SCQF Level Three

For those that are searching for a career in the industry of hospitality or those that want to learn the how to look after themselves in their environment or those with special needs.

SCQF Level Four

This is for those that are beginners and want a concept of the industry of hospitality. This is for those that are still students or those that are preparing for an apprenticeship program. There are those that want a qualification which can help them to get their first job or assist with ongoing study.

CAREERS THAT THIS CAN LEAD TO

The qualification can help a learner get a job in several roles including:

• Cleaner
• Chef
• Bar person
• Housekeeper
• Receptionist
• Kitchen porter/assistant

After completing the course, a learner may want to move to level two qualifications and to get skilled employed like apprenticeships.

INVOLVEMENTS OF THE DELIVERY OF THE COURSE

For one to qualify to deliver the course, he or she needs qualified staff for assessment and training.

There will be need for suitable resources and facilities for training and attainment of industry requirements by learners.

This is open for anybody but there must be enough resources for all learners that are required to complete the course.

SCQF Three

For those that are searching for a career in the industry of hospitality or those that want to learn the how to look after themselves in their environment or those with special needs. This is for those that have no or little experience in the industry but want to get their career started.

There are two compulsory units and several optional ones.

WHAT THE CAREER CAN LEAD TO

The Hospitality Introduction Award can help a person find employment in several roles including:

• Kitchen porter/assistant
• Bar person
• Concierge
• Receptionist

After completing the course, one can move to other level one qualification such as the pre-apprenticeship.
